Osama Killed by Navy Seals

It was leaked to news outlets on May 1st that Osama Bin Laden the founder of al-Qaida has been killed during an American military strike in Pakistan. Bin Laden was apparently living in a secure "mansion" in Pakistan. Not hiding away in a cave as some had speculated.

Navy Seals stormed the compound at night. Osama was found in a upstairs bedroom. Navy seals hit their mark and Bin Laden was ultimately shot twice in the head.

Osama bin Laden had 500 euros and two telephone numbers sewn into his clothing in case he needed to make a quick escape from his compound. Obviously he was not quick enough. He may have become too comfortable in the belief he would never be caught.

The body has been positively identified using DNA testing. The U.S. has custody of Bin Laden's body. President Barack Obama said Bin Laden's body was handled according to "Islamic Tradition". Bin Laden was buried at sea. The death sent shock waves throughout the Arab world.

Photo of Deceased Osama

The White House is undecided whether to release a photo of Osama's corpse. They say the photo is very graphic, showing blood and brain matter due to Osama's head wound. The graphic nature of the photo cant be worse than the graphic images we were exposed to on 9/11.

It is a part of history gruesome or not we should be allowed to view this photo, giving final closure of this evil leaders death. It will be a reminder that this is what happenens to terrorists who target America.

Why they dont want Osama's Death Photo Released

Celebration

Spontaneous celebrations occurred outside the White House in Washington D.C., crowds chanted "USA, USA". Crowds also gathered in New York City and Boston, People were shouting and waving the American flag, thrilled by the news.

US Navy Seals

Navy Seals

Much interest has been generated about the Seals that were chosen for this mission. SEALS stands for Sea, Air, and Land. To become a SEAL one needs immense physical strength and "tactical expertise." To become SEALs, candidates train 18 to 24 months, including a grueling "Hell Week" during which they are "constantly cold, hungry, sleep deprived, and wet." The dropout rate for SEAL training is about 90 percent.

9/11 Attacks

Bin Laden was the mastermind behind the September 11th 2001 terrorist attacks on America. 19 Terrorist hijacked four commercial passenger jet airliners. Two planes were flown into the World Trade Center Towers in New York City.

A third airliner was flown into The Pentagon in Arlington, Virginia, just outside Washington, D.C.The fourth plane crashed into a field near Shanksville in rural Pennsylvania. The attacks resulted in over 2,900 American casualties.

Osama Bin Laden has been evading capture since the 911 attacks. He proudly took credit for the 911 attacks, claiming he knew the attacks would cause the collapse of both WTC towers. He taunted the U.S. and was jubilant over the "Success" of the attacks.

Bin Laden claimed America was "weak" and would never capture him. And despite a 25 million dollar reward offered by the U.S. for his capture, he eluded authorities.

Bin Laden regularly released video statements to spread his message of terror, and provide evidence of his well-being. It was not clear whether the US would ever succeed in capturing Bin Laden as the years went by. Enemies of the US should note that we will eventually bring them to justice no matter how long it takes.

Fears have arisen following the death of Osama bin Laden that the U.S. now faces a greater risk of a terrorist retaliation from al-Qaida.

A look back at September 11th 2001

It was Tuesday; a beautiful clear, crisp and sunny September day. White fluffy clouds dotted the bright blue sky. I was in my college apartment in Massachusetts getting ready for class. My roommate yelled from upstairs. “A plane hit the world trade center”!

At first we thought it was some type of accident, a small plane maybe. But we learned no it was a commercial jet liner. Stunned we gaped at the T.V.

Soon the second plane hit. Our blood ran cold as we realized it was no accident but a terrorist attack.

Horrifying footage followed as people high on the towers leapt to their death from the burning towers. Then both towers collapsed like a house of cards.

Tearful calls were made from the towers from people who knew they wouldn’t escape, and no rescuers could reach them. They called to say goodbye to loved ones.

It was learned after a period of confusion and terror that this was a series of coordinated suicide attacks by al-Qaida upon the United States.

On that morning, 19 al-Qaida terrorists hijacked four commercial passenger jet airliners, using weapons such as box cutters.

The hijackers took control of the planes, and intentionally crashed two of the airliners into the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center in New York City, killing everyone on board and many others working in the buildings.

Both towers collapsed within two hours, destroying nearby buildings and damaging others. The hijackers crashed a third airliner into The Pentagon in Arlington, Virginia, just outside Washington, D.C.

The fourth plane crashed into a field near Shanksville in rural Pennsylvania after some of its passengers and flight crew attempted to retake control of the plane, which the hijackers had redirected toward Washington, D.C. to target either the Capitol Building or the White House. There were no survivors from any of the flights.

Nearly 3,000 victims and the 19 hijackers died in the attacks.

This doesn’t happen here. This was America; no one attacked us on our own soil. Our country was not used to feeling vulnerable.

My college classes were canceled for a few days. Cell phone towers were overloaded with calls. Members of the military were suddenly on alert. People with family in New York City frantically tried to get in touch with relatives or friends.

Flyers of the missing that were posted in NYC

People posted pictures of missing loved ones around New York City with hopes they made it out of the towers. Cars sat in commuter parking lots their owners never to return.

Air traffic came to a halt. America braced for more attacks. America mourned the dead.

There was a surge of patriotism after the attacks. People rushed to buy American Flags, and there was a collective determination not to let the terrorists win.

I might be in the minority....but hearing about his death...it seemed to bring back more bad memories than the joy of his death...plus it makes me more concerned about what is going to happen next....that being said....it is good that the terrorist is gone....just hope the replacement is not as bad ....or even worse...voted up

Yes it had to be done...Can you imagine if he lived and there was a trial ugghhhh...

But I am sure it brought back bad memories for the families. Lets hope there is no retaliation.

Thanks for commenting Zduckman...

However I do think Bin Laden is dead... And Yes It will help Obama's election chances. I am happy Osama is gone, he was a mass murderer.

Sometimes killing is necessary. For example would you not kill in self defense or to protect your family, most would if they had to...
